A photographer wants people to look at the images, not the website. For Sami Mabrouk, we imagined a portfolio where the work revolves around a single point: his signature.

The imagined brief

Sami Mabrouk is a photographer working across portrait, still life and experimental imagery. His clients are brands, magazines and artists looking for a singular eye. The site had to present a selection of series immersively, without superfluous text, and make people want to discover each image.

The idea

On a black background, the photographs form a circle around a minimal logo placed in the centre. Portraits, textures, close-ups and abstract images form a crown, like a contact sheet shaped into a loop. The work literally comes full circle.

Art direction

Absolute black, white and grey, nothing else: the photographs are the only sources of colour. A discreet sans-serif is limited to the name and a few labels. The contrast between the dark background and the black-and-white or softly coloured images creates the feel of a gallery in half-light.

Motion

The ring of images turns slowly, reacts to scrolling and the cursor, and each photo enlarges when you pause on it. The motion creates a sense of depth, as if moving through an installation.

The journey

A single immersive page: the ring of images acts as the menu, each photograph opens its series, and contact details stay discreetly reachable. Visitors explore at their own pace, with no site structure to figure out.

What this concept brings to a real brand

For a photographer, videographer or visual artist, this concept shows that a portfolio can be an experience in itself. An original, well-controlled interaction makes the site memorable and sets it apart from usual image galleries.

Concept: the brand and its brief were imagined by KOYOTEC to explore a creative direction. This is not a client project.
